CRAFTSMANSHIP
Every Vanesa Ateliers piece begins as an idea, developed by hand into a form with its own character. From the first line of the pattern to the final fitting of the hardware, each decision is made in response to the material.
Every Vanesa Ateliers piece begins as an idea, developed by hand into a form with its own character. From the first line of the pattern to the final fitting of the hardware, each decision is made in response to the material.
MATERIAL AS ORIGIN
Every piece begins with the material. Carefully selected Italian calfskin leather is chosen not only for its quality, but for the way it responds to structure, movement and time.
Its natural variations are not concealed. They become part of the individual character of the finished piece.
THE FIRST GESTURE
Before a bag becomes an object, it exists as a movement of the hand. The first sketch searches for proportion, tension and the relationship between body and form.
At this stage, the line is allowed to remain instinctive. It does not describe every detail; it captures the character the piece must preserve as it moves towards construction.
THE ARCHITECTURE OF FORM
The intuitive line is then translated into structure. Curves are measured, proportions are tested and each component is developed into a precise drawing and pattern.
The pattern is not simply a technical template. It is the hidden architecture of the bag — the point at which an artistic idea learns how to hold its shape, open, close and move with the body.
SHAPED BY HAND
The flat material is gradually transformed into volume through skiving, folding, stitching and controlled tension.
Each piece is assembled individually. The construction is adjusted as the leather responds, allowing precision without removing the presence of the hand that shaped it.
THE INNER STRUCTURE
The interior is treated as part of the object, not as a concealed afterthought.
A satin lining, a small interior pocket and carefully integrated hardware complete the construction. Every edge, fastening and internal element is finished and inspected before the piece leaves the atelier.
MADE ONE AT A TIME
Vanesa Ateliers pieces are made individually rather than produced as part of a uniform series.
Subtle differences in surface, proportion and finish are allowed to remain. They are not imperfections, but traces of the material and the process through which each piece acquired its final form.
No two are exactly the same — because character is not repeated.
New forms, shaped by hand in carefully selected Italian leather. Each piece is created in small quantities and carries a character of its own.
