Jesus Christ Pantocrator
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says God, “Who is, Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty.”
Icon “Jesus Christ Pantocrator”
Imagine a world centuries ago, where the light of faith is passed down through the hands of master iconographers. One of the first images preserved by Christianity is this very one – the icon of Jesus Christ Pantocrator.
From the earliest centuries of the Church, this image has appeared on the walls of temples, in catacombs, and in monasteries. Christ looks at us with a wise, penetrating gaze – not stern, but all-seeing. In His right hand, He blesses, and in His left, He holds the Gospel – the book of truth and salvation. A symbol of divine power and love.
One of the oldest surviving icons of Christ Pantocrator is kept in the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, created as early as the 6th century. For centuries, this image has passed through kingdoms, empires, destruction, and restoration, yet it has always remained a symbol of faith and hope.
Today, as I paint this icon, I feel that I am continuing an ancient tradition. Through every line, every golden glow, every brushstroke, I am conveying something more than art – I am passing on history, prayer, and blessing.
And now, this image is here – before you. Just as it has illuminated souls and homes for centuries, it can bring peace and light into your home today.
